  • Utterly Voice currently supports Windows 10 and 11.
  • If you use the default Vosk speech recognizer, Utterly Voice will use about 5 GB of memory. Your machine should have at least 8 GB of memory, ideally 16 GB or more.
  • If you use an online recognizer, Utterly Voice uses a very small amount of memory, but you should have a fast internet connection.

1. Download link icon

Go to the Download page and download the application zip file.

2. Create an Utterly Voice Directory link icon

You need to decide where you want to install the application and to create a directory there. Utterly Voice is a portable application that doesn't make any changes to your system settings. All of the settings and data required by the application are included in the application's directory. You can install the application in any location where you have file write permissions. Here are a few suggestions:

  • If you will be the only user of the application on your computer, you can create C:\utterlyvoice\.
  • If multiple users of your computer will require unique configurations of Utterly Voice, you can create C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\utterlyvoice\ for each user.
  • If you will be using the application on many computers, or your organization does not allow application installation on your computer's drive, you can create a utterlyvoice directory on a USB drive. All configurations can be saved in this USB drive directory and you can execute the application from there.

Note that the C:\Program Files\ directory used by many applications does not provide file write permissions unless you are running as the administrator or you change the default file permissions for this directory.

3. Unzip link icon

Unzip the file to to the directory you created above.

If you want to uninstall the application, just delete the application directory.

4. Run the Application link icon

Double click the application executable file in the unzipped folder: utterlyvoice (or utterlyvoice.exe if your Windows settings show file extensions).

If Windows S mode prevents you from running the application, switch out of Windows S mode. When S mode is active, applications that are not available in the Microsoft Store (like Google Chrome and Utterly Voice) are not allowed to run.

The first time you run the application, Windows may show a warning about running an unknown application. This happens because the application is not published yet. Select the options that let you run the application. For example, on Windows 10 and 11, click more info then run anyway.

The application should open a window at the top of your screen, and it should behave similar to the taskbar. If you have not provided a license key yet, the setup window also opens automatically. See the Setup page for details.
